The Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) announced their slate of officers for the next year following today’s board meeting and annual meeting. At the end of the annual meeting and after 12 years on the Board and six years as Chairman, James Redmond submitted his resignation from the Board. Geoffrey Astles of Ontario County was elected to serve as RGRTA Board Chairman.

Service changes that will go into effect on Monday, June 27, 2016, making it easier for customers to enjoy the ride. The new and modified routes will provide customers with more consistent, efficient and reliable service.

RTS is celebrating ROC Transit Day by focusing on the value of public transit in our community. By connecting our customers to jobs, education, health care, shopping and recreational activities, RTS is playing an important role in the community’s fight against poverty and ongoing efforts to support job growth and strengthen the economy.

Due to road closures and restrictions for the Lilac Run 5K and 10K races, RTS announced today the following detour and service information that will be in effect on Sunday, May 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

At a tour of the new Xerox call center in Webster earlier today, Xerox and RTS expressed their thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo and our local representatives to the New York State Legislature for providing funding for commuter express service to the call center. RTS is reinstating service around the 11:00 p.m. window during the week to support the evening and overnight shifts at the call center and is adding four new trips per day on the weekend.

The American Public Works Association (APWA) has recognized the RTS Transit Center in Rochester, NY with the 2016 National Project of the Year Award.

As one of 20 public transit agencies that are part of the American Bus Benchmarking Group (ABBG), RTS is surveying customers in Monroe County about key aspects of its service and how it is used.

Regional Transit Service (RTS) today announced new and updated routes that will go into effect on Monday, April 4, 2016, making it easier for customers to enjoy the ride. New and modified routes will provide customers with faster, more reliable service.

Transit advocates, lawmakers and the Regional Transit Service (RTS) today called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to partner with the local New York State delegation to provide additional funding for public transportation in the Rochester area and the Finger Lakes region. Governor Cuomo has committed $8 billion to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City, and upstate transit systems like RTS, public transit customers and advocates are urging him to provide proportional funding.

To meet the evolving transit needs of customers in Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties, RTS has launched a Regional Service Efficiency Study.
