Types of Paratransit Eligibility

You may be eligible for paratransit service if you have a disability that prevents all or some of your travel on the ADA compliant RTS fixed route bus. A specific diagnosis or use of mobility aid does not automatically result in paratransit eligibility. Eligibility is based on the functional skills required to ride the RTS fixed route bus.

RTS Access uses 3 Types of Eligibility

If you are found eligible for RTS Access Paratransit service, you will be designated an eligibility type. Eligibility type will be based on your functional skills to ride the RTS Fixed route bus

Temporary Eligibility

  • Eligible to book all rides on RTS Access
  • Eligibility expires in one year or less

Conditional Eligibility

  • Eligible to book some rides on RTS Access but capable of riding fixed route service for some trips
  • An RTS Access ID card is provided
  • Eligibility expires in three years
  • Requires in-person recertification 
  • Recertification or notice with forms mailed at 90 days prior to expiration of eligibility.

All-Trip Eligibility

  • Eligible to book all rides on RTS Access
  • An RTS Access ID card is provided
  • Eligibility expires in three years
  • Requires in-person renewal
  • Renewal notice with forms mailed at 90 days prior to expiration of eligibility
