RTS Schedules and Service will Change on Nov. 28

Major, system-wide changes to RTS’ public transit system will go into effect when the RTS Transit Center opens on Friday, Nov. 28.

RTS offers the following reminders to assist customers through this transition:

 Service Changes

 ·         Route Numbers —some route numbers will change.

 ·         Additional Service—some routes have been extended or have added more frequent service. This includes:

o   31/31X Park Ave (previously 1/1X Park Ave) has been extended to the Blossom Loop to service TOPS Market on Winton Road on the weekends.

o   33/33X Goodman (previously 3/3X Goodman) has been extended to Irondequoit Plaza before 8 pm on the weekends.

o   34/34X Hudson Ave (previously 4/4X Hudson) has been extended to Irondequoit Plaza on the weekends.

o   45/45X South Ave (previously 5/5X South Ave) has been extended to the front entrance of MCC on the weekends.

o   9/9X Jay/Maple has been extended to Westmar Plaza on the weekends.

o   38/38X East Main (previously 8/8X East Main) has been extended to Wyand Crescent and Landing Heights after 8 pm each day.

o   48/48X University (previously 18-18X – 19/19X University Avenue) will now travel to Winton & University and service the East Avenue Wegmans after 8 pm each day.

 ·         Weekdays—most routes will depart from the Transit Center at 5:40 and 6 a.m.

After 5:40 and 6 a.m. departures, buses will depart at various times throughout the day. Evening departures from the Transit Center will begin at 8 p.m. and leave every 75 minutes: at 9:15 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 11:45 p.m., and 1 a.m.

 ·         Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays—most routes will depart from the Transit Center at 6 a.m. and then every 60 minutes until 8 p.m. After 8 p.m., most routes will depart every 75 minutes until 1 a.m.

Customers should refer to schedule details for more information.  Please note: all schedules on opening day on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 will follow a Saturday schedule. Trips to and from Park & Rides will run a weekday service on Friday, November 28.  Schedule details are at http://www.myrts.com/Maps-Schedules/RTS-Monroe/Schedule-Previews-November-28. New Downtown Transfer Location for Buses

The RTS Transit Center is located at 60 St. Paul Street, and 71 North Clinton Avenue, one block north of Main Street in downtown Rochester.

Free Service

RTS is offering a ‘fare holiday’ from Friday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 31, 2014. Customers who board or transfer at the Transit Center will ride free.

Community Open Houses

RTS also has scheduled a series of Community Open Houses where the public is invited to familiarize themselves with the Transit Center, and learn more about schedules and route changes. For information about the Open Houses, visit http://www.myrts.com/RTS-Transit-Center/Open-Houses.
