Regional Transit Service (RTS) and RTS Wayne held a ribbon-cutting on May 5 to celebrate the installation of a new bus shelter at 4101 Main Street and Route 21, Williamson, N.Y. The shelter is located just east of Route 21 and Ridge Road intersection in the Town of Williamson (across from Williamson Hardware).
RTS CEO Bill Carpenter and other RTS executives were joined by Marion Town Supervisor Monica Deyo; Retired Marion Town Supervisor Jody Bender; Williamson Town Supervisor and Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors Jim Hoffman; President, Williamson Business District Mike Orr; RGRTA Board Commissioner Michael Jankowski; RTS Wayne Regional Manager Bob Jordan; and RTS Wayne Bus Operator Jim Pullin.
Carpenter says, “RTS Wayne provides quality, convenient and affordable transportation to a ridership of 226,500 customers annually. Ridership in Williamson alone was over 2,500 last year. By adding this new shelter we are adhering to our commitment to modernize our infrastructure and make it easier for RTS customers to enjoy their journey.”
RTS Wayne provides 11 routes, demand response, and non-emergency medical transportation. It also operates 30 routes for the County’s human service agencies as well as commuter links to Rochester. RTS Wayne shelters now total eight in Wayne County.
Funding for the bus shelter was provided for by Federal Transit Administration and the New York State Department of Transportation.
