Two information sessions and live Facebook chat are scheduled for customer convenience

Expanding development and changing demographics has prompted a demand for increased public transit in the area surrounding one of RTS’ busiest customer destinations: the Southeast Quadrant of Rochester and Mt. Hope/URMC corridor.

RTS is proposing a new, streamlined and redesigned version of the current route that travels there—Route 51C/51G—to respond to a mounting stream of customers who must reach destinations there for shopping, home, work or healthcare.

Redesigned Route 51 will provide increased service to new Henrietta retail, residential and healthcare complexes, including Clinton Crossings, while maintaining current service through South Clinton and Goodman. Changes will go into effect Monday, Aug. 31.

Two information sessions and a live Facebook chat are scheduled:

  • Tuesday, June 30, 7 to 10 a.m. RTS Transit Center, Gate 16
  • Tuesday, June 30, noon to 1 p.m. RTS Service Planners will be available to answer questions live on Facebook
  • Wednesday, July 1, 3 to 6 p.m. RTS Transit Center, Gate 16

The redesign of Route 51 is part of RTS’ mission to build customer confidence in RTS as the community’s provider and partner for safe, reliable, and convenient public transportation that people can build their lives around—and to facilitate its transition from an outdated public transit model and routing system to a highly efficient one that allows it to provide service where and when customers need it most.

For those unable to attend an information session or participate on Facebook, schedule details and a route map can be viewed online at www.myrts.com/Planning-Projects/Route-51.

Comments about the proposed changes can be made by contacting RTS Customer Service at (585) 288-1700 or by emailing Monroe@myRTS.com
