Cost Savings and Increased Bus Service for RTS Genesee Customers

August 10, 2015

RTS Genesee customers will soon see a reduced fare and more weekday options for traveling from LeRoy to Batavia. Effective Sept. 1, RTS Genesee Route 4 will add daily service for $1 per ride within the Town of LeRoy. The added service replaces RTS Genesee “LeRoy Thursday” route, which will be eliminated.

Expanding retail and residential development have created increased demand for public transit in Genesee County. The new, improved route makes it easier for shoppers to access retail and other destinations on a daily basis instead of one day per week. The new fare of $1 is 60 percent lower than the old fare of $3—saving customers $2 per trip. (Note: Fare to other destinations between LeRoy and Batavia remains at $3.)

RTS Genesee has scheduled a public information session for customers to learn about the new route. It will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the LeRoy Town Hall, 48 Main Street, LeRoy, N.Y.

RTS Genesee Regional Manager Jamie Mott says, “LeRoy Thursday was inefficient because it was only available one day per week. The new route offers customers the freedom and convenience to travel any day of the week they like. We’re also are happy to provide a substantial cost savings for customers, too, with a reduced fare of $1.”

Bus stops will include LeRoy Meadows, LeRoy Manor, McDonalds, Save-a-Lot, Creekside Apartments, Dollar General, Royal Apartments and Tops.

RTS Genesee service changes are part of RTS’ transition from an outdated public transit model and routing system to one that’s highly efficient, and provides service where and when customers need it most.

For those unable to attend an information session, schedule details and route maps can be viewed online at www.myrts.com/genesee after Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Comments about the proposed changes can be made by contacting RTS Genesee Customer Service at (585) 343-3079 or by emailing them at Genesee@myRTS.com.
