Rochester, NY:
Regional Transit Service (RTS) today announced new and updated routes that will go into effect on Monday, April 4, 2016, making it easier for customers to enjoy the ride. New and modified routes will provide customers with faster, more reliable service.

The existing bus routes that will be modified are the 23 Jefferson Rd., 41 Joseph Ave., 45 South Ave., 101 Avon/Rush Park & Ride and 102 Perinton-Bushnell’s Basin. The new routes being introduced will be designated 84 Perinton/Bushnell’s Basin/Eastview Mall and 145 South Avenue Limited. The highlights include:

Route 45 South Ave. is being streamlined to simplify and create consistent service to high-ridership destinations such as the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and Monroe Community Hospital (MCH). The newly modified route will now travel between the RTS Transit Center and MCH, including stops at Mary Cariola Children’s Center, College Town and URMC. The service to Rustic Village and MCC is being transferred to Route 23 Jefferson Rd.

Route 145 South Ave. Limited will offer a faster connection to the highest ridership destinations along Route 45 South Ave., making fewer stops between the RTS Transit Center and MCH. The 145 South Ave. Limited will serve Highland Hospital and URMC.

Route 23 Jefferson Rd. will see the addition of service to Monroe Community College on weeknights.

Route 41 Joseph Ave. will add trips to Behavioral Health on Ridge Rd.

Route 101 Avon/Rush Park & Ride will be modified to provide a shorter commute for customers in Honeoye Falls and Lima.

Route 102 Perinton-Bushnell’s Basin will be split into routes 84 Perinton/Bushnell’s Basin/Eastview Mall and 102 Newark/Lyons:

  • 84 Perinton/Bushnell’s Basin/Eastview Mall will travel between the RTS Transit Center and Eastview Mall (near Sears), and will include stops at the 490 and  31F Park & Ride, the Perinton Park & Ride, and the Bushnell’s Basin Park & Ride.
  • Route 102 Newark/Lyons will now travel between the RTS Transit Center and Lyons and include stops in Egypt, Macedon and Newark.

“The route modifications and additions we are implementing are designed to improve service to high-ridership destinations and make it easier for our customers to enjoy the ride,” said Bill Carpenter, CEO of RTS. “In addition to addressing the feedback we received from our customers, these changes will also make it easier for RTS to track ridership and route performance and use that data to provide better service.”
