While most cities celebrate Pride in June to honor the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising, Rochester celebrates Pride in July. According to the organizers of the first Rochester Pride events, which started in the 1970s, July was chosen so that people could celebrate in Rochester without having to miss celebrations in other cities.
Even if you’re not able to join the parade, you can catch a ride - or catch a glimpse – of the Pride Bus throughout July.
